Latifah Naji Abo Homeed, 61 ans, vit dans le camp de réfugiés d’ Al Amary à Ramallah en Palestine . De ses dix enfants, l’un a été tué en 1994 par les militaires israéliens et sept ont été emprisonnés par Israël. Elle aspire à les voir mais n’a que leurs photos pour se réconforter. Elle a demandé à être emprisonnée elle aussi afin de pouvoir vivre avec eux.Latifah se souvient comment son fils Nasr aimait jouer avec son premier né; sa femme a accouché de leur deuxième fils alors qu’il était en prison. Les plaisanteries de Basile, la gentillesse de Naseir, la disponibilité de Mohamed lui manquent. Son plus jeune fils Jihad, souffrait de l’absence de ses frères plus âgés et maintenant il est aussi emprisonné, attendant sa condamnation. Sharif est fiancé et rêve d’être libre pour épouser sa fiancée. Islam était célèbre pour ses beaux yeux; beaucoup de filles essayaient d’attirer son attention en étant gentilles avec Latifah.Latifah ne partcipe à aucune fête de mariage car elle craint de ne pouvoir contrôler ses larmes. Elle est désespérée à l’idée qu’elle mourra avant de pouvoir assister au mariage de son propre fils.
Bien que Latifah n’ait pas abandonné l’espoir que ses fils et d’autres prisonniers palestiniens seront libérés, elle ressent souvent que personne ne se souvient d’eux et ne se bat pour eux. Elle prie pour trouver la force et la patience de supporter la vie sous occupation et la séparation indéfinie d’avec ses fils. La maison qu’elle partage avec son mari a été démolie à deux reprises ces dix dernières années. Elle et son mari, qui a 67 ans, ont ouvert récemment une boutique de bonbons dans leur maison pour essayer de gagner un peu d’argent et de s’occuper.L’histoire de Latifah est celle de trop nombreuses femmes palestiniennes, qui n’espèrent qu’une chose : la liberté pour leurs fils, leurs maris et leur frères

لطيفه ناجي عبده حميد، 61 سنة، تعيش في مخيم الأمعري للاجئين في ضواحي رام الله – فلسطين. هي أم لعشرة أبناء، قتل العدو الصهيوني أحدهم عام 1994، وسبعة من الباقين يقبعون في سجون هذا العدو. انها تتلهف لروئيتم، ولكن جل ما هو متاح لها هو صورهم لتخفف من لوعة الشوق. طالبت بأن تسجن هي أيضاً حتى تعيش معهم.
تتذكر لطيفة كيف أن ابنها ناصر كان يحب ملاعبة ابنه؛ وقد ولدت زوجته وهو قابع خلف قضبان السجن. إنها تتوق إلى سماع نكات ناصر، والشعور بحنوه ومساعدة محمد. أصغر أبنائها، جهاد، دائم الشوق إلى إخوانه الأكبر منه سناً، وهو الآن في جوارهم في السجن، بانتظار صدور الحكم عليه. أما شريف فقد عقد خطوبته ويحلم باليوم الذي يطلق فيه سراحه ليتمم فرحته بالزواج من عروسه. إسلام معروف بجمال عينيه مما حمل الكثيرات من الفتيات إلى جلب نظره بالتقرب من والدته لطيفة.
لطيفة لا تقبل الدعوات إلى الأعراس لأنها تخاف من عدم قدرتها من السيطرة على مشاعرها وحبس دموعها. وهي تخاف الموت قبل أن يتسنى لها حضور أعراس أبنائها.
ومع أن لطيفة لم تفقد الأمل بخروج أبنائها وبقية الشباب الفلسطيني إلى الحرية، فأنها دائمة الشعور بأن لا أحد يتذكرهم وليس من أحد يناضل في سبيل تحريرهم. إنها تصلي، كي تمتلك القوة والصبر كي تتحمل الحياة في ظل الاحتلال والفراق الدائم بينها وبين أبنائها.
أما البيت الذي تعيش فيه مع زوجها فقد جرفه ودمره العدو الصهيوني مرتين خلال السنوات العشرة الأخيرة. لطيفة وزوجها ابن السابعة والستين استغلا مؤخراً الفراغ في بيتهما نتيجة غياب أبنائهما في سجون العدو ليفتتحا دكان حلويات صغير كي يؤمنا لنفسيهما بعض الدخل وملئ الفراغ في وقتهما.
هذه هي قصة عدد لا يحصى من النساء الفلسطينيات اللواتي يعتصر قلوبهن الشوق والمنى مع كل نفس كي ينال أبائهن وأزواجهن وإخوانهن الحرية.

Latifah Naji Abo Homeed, 61 years old, lives in Al Am’ary Refugee Camp in the city of Ramallah – Palestine . Of her 10 children, one killed during 1994 by Israeli military and seven have been imprisoned by Israel . She longs to see them but has only their photos for comfort. She has asked to be taken to prison herself so that she can live with them.Latifah remembers how her son Nasr loved to play with his first son; his wife delivered his second child while he was in prison. She misses Basil’s jokes, Naseir’s kindness, and Muhamed’s helpfulness. Her youngest, Jehad, was always missing his older brothers, and now he, too, is a prisoner, awaiting his own conviction. Sharif is engaged and dreams to be free and marry his bride. Islam was known for his beautiful eyes; many girls tried to win his attention by being nice to Latifah.Latifah does not attend any weddings because she is afraid she will not be able to control her tears. She despairs that she will die before she can witness her own sons’ weddings. Though Latifah has not given up hope that her sons and other Palestinian prisoners will be freed, she often feels that no one remembers them and no one is fighting for them. She prays, searching for the strength and patience to endure life under Occupation and the unending separation from her sons. The home Latifah shares with her husband has been demolished twice in the last ten years. She and her husband, 67 years old, have recently opened a small candy store in their home to try to earn money and fill their free time.This is the story of countless Palestinian women, who hope for the freedom of their sons, husbands, and brothers with every breath.
